COURSE PRECONDITIONS: Only undergraduate students are accepted for the course LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of this course, students will be able to: gaib knowledge about the basic foundations of polymer chemisty, importance of polymers in daily life and textile industry, properties of polymers. Week) Referances, lecture contents, the importance of polymer chemsitry, development of polymer chemsitry, production and consumption of polymers in Turkey and in the World (2. Week) Basic polymer definitions and terms: (3. Week) Classification of polymer, homopolymer, copolymer, copolymer types, Thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers, resins, elastomers. (4. Week) Naming of polymers, rawn materials used in the polymerization of polymers (5. Week) Polymer synthesis (6. Week) Properties of polymer based fibres (7. Week) Mid-term examination (8. Week)Thermal properties of polymers, glass transition temperature. (9. Week) Molecular structure of polymer based fibres, kristalization, factors affecting crystallization, Calculation of crystallinity (10. Week) Mechanics of crystallization, drawing, molecular elasticity (11. Week) Polymer fibre Technologies, melt spinning, gel-spinning and physical and chemical properties of fibres produced from such methods (12.
