Under new management for the first time in 2015, the Yacht Racing Forum reassembled the sport’s key actors and industry experts in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss
the business of yacht racing and key issues such as sponsorship, race management, safety, new technologies, television, yacht design, new markets, host cities, media
and much more.
Considered « very successful » by most - if not all - participants, the event delivered important ideas and concepts in key areas that affect everyone in the yacht racing
industry. It gave delegates the opportunity to meet potential partners and clients and make business.
The Yacht Racing Forum allowed the events’ exhibitors to showcase their brand and products to their core target audience. The conference partners got a strong
brand awareness within the international yacht racing community through one single and cost-effective event!

The International Sailing Federation ISAF announces its new name - World Sailing - and graphic identity, and officially
launches a new international TV programme.
François Gabart, skipper of Macif, annonces a round the world race to be held on fully crewed maxi multihulls in 2018.

dünyanın en ünlü yarışçılarının, organizatörlerin ve sponsorların da bulunduğu 280

Bu yıl 07-08 Aralık tarihlerinde
Cenevre’de 280 delegenin katılımıyla
gerçekleşen Yacht Racing Forum,
sektörün önde gelen isimlerinin yanı
sıra yarış organizatörleri,
tasarımcılar, tersaneler, basın ve
yarışçıları biraraya getirerek bir kez
daha sektörün en büyük
organizasyonlarından biri oldu.
Organizasyon yönetiminden Bernard
Schopfer, bu yılki konferans
konularının kalitesi ve derinliğinden
duydukları memnuniyeti dile
getirirken önümüzdeki yıllarda bu
etkinliği daha da geliştirerek yat
yarışçılığına ve yelken endüstrisine
dair herkesin biraraya gelip
tartışabildiği ve yeni fikirlerin
geliştirileceği bir platform
hedeflediklerini belirtti.
Konferansa yeni isim ve kimliğiyle
katılan World Sailing (ISAF) de
buraya sadece konuşmaya değil aynı
zamanda sektörü dinlemeye
geldiklerini göstermiş oldu. Yıllık
World Sailing Konferansı aslında 140
delegenin katılımıyla birçok konunun
tartışılarak karara bağlandığı bir yer
olmasına rağmen sektörle interaktif
bir iletişim kurmak adına Yacht
Racing Forum bu ihtiyacı en iyi
gideren platform oldu.
Konferansta dikkat çekenler ise
şunlar oldu:
• 280 delege haricinde 41 medya
çalışanı, 20 iş ortağı ve 11 basın
sponsoru biraraya geldi.
• Knut Frostad, Volvo Ocean Race
CEO’su olarak son konuşmasını
yaptı.
• Vendée Globe 2012 Şampiyonu

yeni Ultim sınıfındaki projelerini
açıkladı.
• VOR 2014-15 Şampiyonu Ian
Walker, bu sporun daha da
gelişmesi yönündeki görüşlerini

ergenliklerinde arkalarına

Birliği Başkanı Steve Clark ve
Seahorse dergisinin editörü
Andrew Hurst bu görüşü
desteklediğini belirtti. “Çocukları
anlamsız şekilde zorluyoruz. Bu
yüzden de optimist şampiyonu
olup sonrasında senior seviyede
gümüş için yarışan bile kalmıyor.
Gençlere yelkenin ömür boyu
yapılacak bir spor olduğuna ikna
edecek şekilde ilham vermeliyiz”
dedi.
• Konferansta öğrendiğimize göre
ISAF CEO’su Peter Sowrey’nin
yerine geçecek kişinin arayışı
başlamış bile. Bürokrasidense
daha çok iş mantığıyla hareket
edecek taze bir soluk arandığını
Gary Jobson’ın konuşmasından da
anlamış olduk. “CEO’dan ziyade
genel sekreter ya da benzeri bir
profilde birisine bakmak daha
anlamlı olacaktır. ISAF’ın yeni bir
soluk ve innovatif bakış açısına
ihtiyacı var. Geldiğimiz açmazda
en önemli ihtiyacımız budur.”
• En ilgi çekici konulardan biri de
Çin’in dünya yelkenciliğinde emin
adımlarla ilerliyor olmasıydı. Dr

gelenlerin çıtayı daha da yukarı
çıkaracaklarına inanıyoruz” dedi.
• Volvo Ocean Race’ten Tom
Touber Risk Yönetimi ve Güvenlik
konulu panelde çarpıcı bir de
açıklama yaptı. “Volvo Cars’dan
yapılan açıklamaya göre 2020’de
artık Volvo otomobillerinde
ölümcül kazalar yaşanmayacak.
Biz aynı şeyi yelken için
söyleyebiliyor muyuz? Tekneler
son yıllarda o kadar hızlandılar ki
bugün üzerinde yarışan ekipler
için bambaşka riskler söz konusu.
Artık teknelerde sadece
profesyonel yarışçılar yok, daha
önce yelken yapmamış misafirler
de var. Onları da düşünerek
önlem almalıyız.”
• François Gabart yaptığı sunumla
bugün bütün dünyada sadece
beş teknenin yer aldığı Ultime
sınıfını tanıtırken en büyük
hayallerinin bir gün dünyanın
etrafını suyun üzerinde
