INVITATION
Dear Volunteers Paleontology,
Through geological periods Turkey, located at the
intersection point of Europe, Asia and Africa, presents
biodiversity which is important for its marine and
terrestrial basinal features.This biodiversity contributes
to intracontinental and intercontinental correlations;
Biostratigraphic,
paleoclimatic, paleogeographical
reconstructions; and also stratigraphic/tectonic evolution
of the region.
Paleontology Working Group, which is established
in 2000, will carry out 17th Paleontology-Stratigraphy
Workshop during 13-16 October 2016 in Ayvalık/Balıkesir
to accelerate paleontological and stratigraphical studies,
contribute collaboration and communication between Earth
scientists, develop new applications in paleontology and
stratigraphy education and share new technical and
scientific developments. The subject of the workshop is
assigned as: “Paleo-biogeogragraphy of Turkey and its
Surrounding area”.
The meeting will be held in Balıkesir-Ayvalık, the
the two days for scientific presentations, and one day
for the introduction of stratigraphic and biostratigraphic features in the surrounding geological rock
units have been reserved during workshop. Also on the last
day, discussion / evaluation social activities it is planned.
The foreign scientists who work on seven
different fossil groups have been invited for the workshop
on the Science Committee. Science committee members
will make a major contribution at the both abstract of the
evaluation and study of publication in the science phase.
First special ıssue was organized after the 15. PÇG
workshop, and we are continuing the working of journal
determination.
It is planned to arranging separate session for
the non-specific study for exprience of the master and
doctorate students.
Your participation in the workshop, yours
scientific knowledges, new findings and ideas will be
contribute to more fruitful in the workshop.
