Her hafta birçok film vizyona giriyor, fakat izleyicinin bu
filmlerden haberdar olması gittikçe zorlaşıyor. Her filmin
izleyiciye ulaşma yolu farklı ve bu nedenle iletişim stratejisi
ne kadar erken planlanırsa o kadar etkili oluyor. Bu derste
stratejiyi belirlerken düşünülmesi gerekenleri konuşuyoruz.
‘Marketing’ is an item that is generally overlooked. Each
week, many films come to the theatres but it is getting
more difficult for audiences to keep up-to-date. Every
film has a distinct path to reach the targeted audience;
therefore, the earlier the communication strategy is
planned, the more effective it would get. We will talk about
all that needs to be considered when drawing a path.

Belgesel ve kurgu arasında ince bir çizginin olduğu
günümüzde, birinin araçlarını diğerini zenginleştirmek
için kullanmak giderek normalleşmekte: söyleşiler yerine
diyaloglar, rüya sekansları (animasyon formunda olsa bile),
mizahi bir dille yeniden canlandırma, müzikal sekanslar,
vb. Bütün bunlar belgesel dünyasına sadece birer efekt
olarak değil, hikâye anlatım yöntemini tazelemek amacıyla
başvurulan yeni anlatı araçları olarak girebilir.
Given the thin red line that exists nowadays between
documentary and fiction, it has become natural to
pick up tools from one to enrich the other: dialogues
instead of interviews, dream sequences (even in
the form of animation), reenactments with humor,
musical sequences... All these could be brought to the
documentary world not just as effects, but also as new
narrative tools that refresh the way of telling a story.

Küçük bütçeli film yapmanın sebeplerinin irdeleneceği
bu panelde, genç sinemacılar için filmografilerini
zenginleştirmek, deneyimli sinemacılar için de film
yapmaya devam etmek gibi avantajlar da gündeme
getirilecek. Alpgiray Uğurlu da, yönetmenliğini yaptığı ilk
filmi Uvertür’ün yapım sürecini ve küçük bütçeli film yapımı
ile ilgili deneyimlerini paylaşacak.
Katriel Schory will discuss the reasons to engage in lowbudget filmmaking and point out the advantages for
young filmmakers to create a portfolio as well as for the
veteran filmmakers to keep on filming. In this master
class, Alpgiray Uğurlu will also discuss the production
process of his debut film Overture, and share his
experiences on low-budget filmmaking.

(VR) teknolojisi ve etrafındaki tartışmalar irdelenecek,
katılımcılara VR deneyimi sunulacak. İlk bölümde VR
alanında çalışmalar yapan yönetmen, yapımcı ve oyun
tasarımcısı profesyoneller, VR’ın gelişiminin hikâye
anlatımına, yapım sürecine ve izleyici deneyimine getirdiği
yeni boyutları tartışmanın yanı sıra katılımcılarla bilgi ve
deneyimlerini paylaşacaklar.
This masterclass, comprising two parts, aims to analyse
the technology of Virtual Reality (VR) and the discussions
around this topic. As part of the master class, audiences
will also be offered an experience of the VR. In the first
part, the professionals in the Virtual Reality sector, such as
directors, producers and game designers will discuss the
evolution of VR in terms of its influences on narration,
production process, and audience experience. They will
also share their expertise and experience on VR.

The second part of the master class will invite the
participants to the world of diverse VR experience, and
participants will have a chance to talk to the designers.

Global Media Makers comprises such countries as

Geçmişte ucuz gerilim filmleri “tür filmleri” olarak
anılıyordu. Ancak günümüzde “tür filmleri” It
Follows, The Witch, Turbo Kid ve Baskın gibi filmlerin
başarılarından hareketle, nitelikli film festivalleri ve
sanat filmi izleyicileri tarafından “kabul” görmeye
başladı. Bu sinema dersi, tür filminin temel kavramı
olan “türün yüceltilmesi”ni (elevated genre), daha
kolay pazarlanmasını ve yeni platformlar aracılığıyla
geliştirilen teknolojilerin tür filmi yapımcılığını nasıl
eşsiz bir yere taşıyacağını tartışmaya açacak. Can
Evrenol’un Baskın filmi bu gözle incelenecek.
In the past, genre films used to be synonymous with
cheap thrills, but in recent years, we have seen a trend
towards the ‘acceptance’ of this genre by A-list film
festivals and art-house audiences. Examples include
the international achievements of It Follows, The
Witch, Turbo Kid and Baskın. This master class will
provide an overview of the basic concepts of ‘genre
film’ and ‘elevated genre’, as well as its marketability.
The discussion will focus on the ways in which new
platforms and technologies allow genre filmmaking
to flourish to an unprecedented degree. Can Evrenol’s
film Baskın will be analysed along these lines as a
case study.

In the light of recent debates concerning gender
equality and the place of women in film industry,
the current situation in Europe and the US will
be discussed with a special focus on the strategies
implemented by Swedish Film Institute, Eurimages
and Gamechanger Films. The factors, schemes,
and projects that shape the woman’s ‘way’ will be
considered.
