ACTIVITIES
1. Activity Hour
This week we will have our first activity hour called: Team Pictionary. The class will
be put into two different teams. One representative from each team will come up (at
different times) and choose a card at random with a word on it. They are to draw the
object within the time limit and then their team can make 3 guesses. If the team
doesn’t know then the opposite team gets one guess. They will get points from their
team. The words were taken from their reader ‘Frankenstein at School’ and their
English text books ‘English Adventure 3’ and ‘Reading & Writing 2’. This activity
serves as a review of all previous vocabulary and phrases.
2. Storytelling
We had our first Storytelling lesson this month. In these lessons we use big books
and our big book was ‘Five Little Ducks’. This story is an old rhyme and it is fun and
easy for the student to present and read in a sing-song way. First we looked at the
cover and tried to determine the subject of the book. Then I read it aloud. After that,
the students came up to read parts to the class. When we were finished reading we
acted the story out. The characters were: Mother duck and the five baby ducks.
3. Creative Thinking Abilities – Sports
During Unit 1, the children learnt the names of sports and how to describe them. To
improve their creativity in thinking we did some activities based on sports. They
created the Classroom Olympics. Each student chose a sport and an action verb
related to that sport. Then the students brought the pictures of those sports and
action verbs to school. We brought them together and formed our ‘Classroom
Olympics’ poster.

3. SINIFLAR

3. Sınıflarda İngilizce dersi 11 saattir. 8 saati maincourse, 2 saati skills (yabancı
öğretmenimiz ile) ve 1 saati İngilizce Okuma Saati olarak verilmektedir. Öğrenimi
kalıcı ve zevkli bir hale getirmek için İngilizce öğretmenleri olarak çeşitli aktiviteler
gerçekleştirmekteyiz: Aktivite saati, PowerPoint sunumu, hikâye anlatımı, okuma
saatleri, kelime değerlendirmesi, düşünme becerileri. İngilizce derslerimizde, öğretim,
Düşünme Becerileri Sistemine göre yapıldığından aşamalı ve sistematik bir biçimde
uygulama yapılır. Ödevler, İngilizce dersinin bütünleyici bir parçasıdır. Düzenli olarak
çalışma kitabından verilebileceği gibi, yabancı öğretmenimizin hazırladığı okuma ve
kelime sayfalarından da oluşabilir. Bu yıla ilişkin asıl amacımız çocuklarımızın
İngilizceyi sevmelerini sağlamaktır. Bunu gerçekleştirebilmek için iletişime dayalı bir
ilişki benimsenmiştir. Tüm dil becerileri; okuma – dinleme – yazma – konuşma zaman
içinde gelişecektir.

AKTİVİTELER
1. Team Pictionary:
Bu aktivitede öğrencilerimiz gruplara ayrılırlar. Her gruptan bir kişi sırayla tahtaya
gelir ve bir adet resimli kart seçer. Eğer karttaki resmin İngilizce karşılığını
söyleyebilirse, öğrenciden bu kelimenin resmini çizmesi istenir. Her grubun cevabı
bulabilmesi için sadece 5 tahmin şansı vardır. Eğer kelime tahmin edilemezse şans
diğer takıma geçer ve kelime bulunana kadar aktiviteye devam edilir. Bu aktivite
öğrencilerin öğrendikleri kelimeleri pekiştirmesi için yapılan etkin bir çalışmadır.
2. Hikâye Anlatımı:
Öğrencilerimize anlatılan ilk hikâye Beş Küçük Ördek’tir. Bu hikâye çok eski bir
tekerlemeye dayanmaktadır. Öğrencilerimize çok komik gelen bu hikâyeyi önce
yabancı öğretmenimiz anlattı daha sonra sınıfça şarkısını söylediler. Anlatım
sırasında önce büyük hikâye kitabımızın başlığına baktılar ve hikâyenin konusu
hakkında beyin fırtınası yaptılar. Sonra öğrencilerimiz hikâyeyi canlandırdılar.
3. Düşünme Becerileri – Sentez Çalışması
Öğrencilerimiz Ünite 1’de işlemiş oldukları spor türleri konusunda düşünme becerileri
ışığı altında bir proje hazırladılar. Her öğrencimiz bir spor türü ve bu spor ile ilgili olan
bir eylem seçtiler. Bunlarla ilgili bulmuş oldukları resimleri sınıfa getirdiler. Sporları
tarif ettikten sonra hepsini bir araya getirip Sınıf Olimpiyatları posterini oluşturduk.
