Mini Homework Projects for Computer Networks 2013
The following socket applications may be implemented by either TCP or UDP.
1. Remote Paint : User draws lines and curves on a window using mouse, related commands
(coordinates, color, thickness etc) are sent to remote host which are then used to create identical
shapes on a remote window.
2. Remote Tik-Tac-Toe : Two opponents play Tic-Tac-Toe on remote computers.
3. Remote Desktop Picture : Remote desktop is displayed on a window of local client when
requested. Resolution may be reduced before transfer.
4. Simple File Transfer : Remote files are displayed locally and transferred when requested.
5. Battleship (amiral battı) : Two opponents play battleship game on remote computers.
6. Word Guessing (adam asmaca) : Two opponents try to guess each other’s word one character at a
time. Words are randomly selected from a dictionary.
7. Chat Server : A server allows connected clients to send text messages to each other through itself.
Server sends connected client list (nick names) when requested, etc.
8. Worms : Opponents control their worm that continually moves in a field. Players get points by
running over (eating) randomly appearing objects.
