Metaphors are made use of in teacher education to reveal the roles that the prospective teachers adopted and their conceptions related to instruction. The aim of this study is to find out the prospective secondary education teachers' conceptions related to secondary education teachers and how they see themselves as teachers via the metaphors. The study group of the research is 187 undergraduate students being trained in secondary education teacher training programs in 2005-2006 academic year, spring semester. Data was gathered with a 26 item-questionaire composed of Likert type close-ended questions and also open-ended questions. Depending on the findings, five metaphors that prospective teachers think to represent secondary education teachers to some extent are; "leader, guide, researcher, compass and technical director", but there aren't any metaphors that represent the secondary school teachers a lot or completely. One of the metaphors that the prospective teachers believe to represent them a lot is "guide".
