Dear Parents,
On this page you will see the grammar subjects, vocabulary and the activities that
have been covered so far. To support the difficult vocabulary, the foreign teacher
does the activity hours. So learning becomes enjoyable for the students. At the end
of the activity hour the students create a project of their own. Applying the system of
Creative Teaching Skills (Düşünme Becerileri Sistemi), the lessons are given
accordingly.

1. CREATIVE THINKING ABILITIES - ACTIVITIES
During Unit 2, the students learned the names of the parts of a house. To improve
their creativity in thinking we did some activities based on a robber story takes place
in a particular neighbourhood. The students described the physical appearance of
the characters and their neighbourhood in the story. They asked questions to their
friends to find the robber and practiced describing an event that took place in the
past.
During Unit 3, the students learned about the natural features and wildlife. To
improve their creativity in thinking we did some activities based on natural parks. The
students created a wildlife park and made a 3D model. They presented their projects
and answered the teacher’s questions.
Reading Hour
After finishing our “Character Scrapbook”, we made beautiful maps with three
important settings and described what happened in each place.
Then we prepared a poster for the story we were reading. We thought of a
tagline and wrote our own reviews for the story we read.
We recently finished our project called “Square a Story!”. We had a chance to
see the sequencing in the story and write 4 important parts in the story.
Next we will be working on “Emotional Character”. We will read our books and
find at least 4 places the main character feels something different. We will map it out
and describe why the character feels this way and add how we would feel in their
shoes.

5 grade
The students finished The Lost Treasure of Bodega Bay.
We played group games using the CD-ROM from the book.
The students also created 3D shark models. We read the
story Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss. In the story, a boy
wakes up and finds many crazy things in his house,
outside, and at school. The students had to find all the
crazy items in the pictures. Later we decided to have a
wacky Wednesday of our own. We made wacky hats and
brought different food to make ‘Dirt’ and ‘Eyeball Cookies.’
The students started the book Homes AroundThe World.
We are learning about different kinds of homes in the past
and the present right now.

Bu sayfamızda işlemiş olduğumuz gramer konularını, kelimeleri ve aktivitelerimizi
göreceksiniz. Zor olan kelimelerin öğrenimini kalıcı ve zevkli bir hale getirmek için
yabancı öğretmenimiz çeşitli aktiviteler yapar. Aktivite saatinin sonunda öğrenciler bir
proje üretirler. İngilizce derslerinde öğrenim Düşünme Becerileri Sistemi’ne göre
yapıldığından aşamalı ve sistematik bir biçimde uygulama yapılır.

AKTİVİTELER
DÜŞÜNME BECERİLERİ - Olay çözümlemesi
Öğrencilerimiz 2. ünitede ev ile ilgili kelimeleri öğrendiler. Ardından öğrencilerimiz
sınıfta bir grup çalışması yaptılar. Bu çalışmada her bir grup kendilerine verilen
karakter ile ilgili bilgileri dedektife aktarırlar ve bütün bilgiler tahtada öğrenciler
tarafından şemalaştırıldıktan sonra hırsızın kim olduğunu bulmaya çalışırlar.
Öğrencilerimiz 3. ünitede doğal hayatla ilgili bir çalışma yapmışlardır.
Öğrencilerimizin yaratıcılıklarını geliştirmek amaçlı ‘doğal park’ konulu bir çalışma
yaptık. Öğrencilerimiz hayallerindeki doğal parkı yarattılar ve sundular.
Öğrencilerimizin ürünleri görülmeye değerdi.
Power Point
Öğrencilerimiz ‘The Lost Treasure of Bodega Bay’ isimli kitaplarını bitirdiler.
Kitabımızın CD-ROM’unu kullanarak çeşitli grup aktiviteleri gerçekleştirdik.
Öğrencilerimiz aynı zamanda üç boyutlu köpek balığı modelleri yaparak sınıfta
sergilediler. ‘Wacky Wednesday’ isimli bir hikaye okuduk. Daha sonra bizler de
kendi ‘Wack Wednesday’ günümüzü yaşamak istedik ve değişik şapkalar tasarlayıp,
farklı yiyeceklerle değişik tarifler yarattık. Öğrencilerimiz şu anda ‘ Homes Around
The World’ isimli kitabı okumaktalar. Bu kitabımızı okurken öğrencilerimiz geçmişteki
ve günümüzdeki ev mimarisi ile ilgili çeşitli bilgiler öğrenmekteler.
Okuma Saati
“Character Scrapbook”umuzu bitirdikten sonra, üç önemli yer hakkında güzel
haritalar hazırladık ve bahsedilen her yerde neler olduğunu anlattık.
Sonrasında, okuduğumuz hikaye hakkında bir poster hazırladık. Bir slogan
belirledik ve okuduğumuz kitap hakkındaki yorumlarımızı yazdık.
“Hikayeyi Karele” isimli projemizi bitirdik. Hikayedeki olay sıralamasını görme
şansımız oldu. Hikayenin başlangıcında, devamında ve sonunda neler olduğuna dair
4 önemli bölümü yazdık.
Sonrasında yapacağımız proje “Duygusal Karakter” isminde. Okuyacağımız
kitaptaki ana karakterin farklı hissettiği 4 olaya bakacağız ve biz onun yerinde
olsaydık ne hissederdik diye düşüneceğiz.
