YEAR 2008 The first high speed line was completed. YEAR 2004 Total length of railways increased to 10.991 km and 6 of our ports were included in the privatisation programme. Rail transport operations were opened to private sector. YEAR 2003 Rail transport operations were opened to private sector. YEAR 1984 Became a Public Economic Institution. YEAR 1953 Became a State Economic Enterprise. YEAR 1950 Total length of railways reached to 9.204 km. YEAR 1927 General Administration of State Railways and Ports. TRANSPORTATION CORRIDORS (PROJECTED) Istanbul‐Basra, Istanbul‐Kars‐Tbilisi‐Baku, Kavqaz‐Samsun‐Basra, Istanbul‐Aleppo‐Makkah, Istanbul‐Aleppo‐the North Africa/the South East Asia transportation corridors will be developed. The Bosphorus Crossing (BC1) Üsküdar –Immersed tube tunnel (1,4 km), –Immersed tube depth is 60 m, –12 km bored tunnels & cut-cover tunnels, –4 new stations. 2. The Upgrading of the Commuter Rail (CR1/CR3) – New high standard triple track line (~ 65 km), – 37 new stations. 3. Procurement of new Rolling Stocks Sirkeci (CR2) Ayrılıkçeşm e – 440 new train sets. Yenikapı Kazlıçeşme Total length : Approx. 77 km – At grade, European side 19.6 km – At grade, Asian side 43.4 km – Bored tunnels 12.2 km – Immersed tube tunnel 1.4 km Marmaray (Ayrılıkçeşme-Kazlıçeşme) was commissioned on 29th October 2013. The line and station renewal works are ongoing on Pendik-Söğütlüçeşme and Kazlıçeşme–Halkalı sections. This signaling system is aimed to become widespread in the country. The construction works are going on in 6 logistics centers in Eskişehir, Balıkesir, Bozüyük, Mardin, Erzurum, Mersin (Yenice). The final drawings and expropriation studies are going on for 7 logistics centers. CONNECTIONS ARE BEING IMPROVED WITH TRAIN‐FERRY TRAFFIC Samsun Poti Kavkaz Varna Mersin Samsun(Turkey)-Kavkaz ( Russia) train ferry line through Black Sea, was officially put into service on 19th February 2013. KARS – TBILISI – BAKU PROJECT Total Length : 101 km Kars ‐ Georgia : 73 km Turkey ‐ Ahilkelek : 28 km Construction in Georgia started on 21.11.2007 Construction in Turkey started on 24.7.2008 and will be completed in 2013. GEORGIA Construction in Georgia: 29 km Existing Line in Georgia Construction in Turkey: 76 km TURKEY Existing Line in Turkey 21 PROCUREMENT of NEW FERRIES To be operated between Tatvan – Van; 2 Ferries with a capacity of 50 wagons along with repairing of landing piers and construction of warehouse for ferries The ferries is being manufactured. Planned to be ready for operation at the end of 2014. THE IMPORTANCE OF R&D IS INCREASING State Corporation R&D INDUSTRY Manufacture UNIVERSITY Training Railway Research and Technology Center, which aims to become bridge between local industry and universities and implement new technologies is established within TCDD.
